The Print window is brought up with the "File > Print..." menu item, the toolbar button, or the Ctrl+P keyboard shortcut.
Anything typed into the "Title" and "Author" fields will be printed at the top of each page, but only if the "Title" and "Author" boxes are checked. Likewise, if the "Page Numbering" checkbox is selected, page numbers will appear in the top right hand corner of each page. The font and font size used for both of these items can be set in the Options window.
The page numbering style can be set to one of two options: "n" (which gives just the number, e.g. "34") , or "Page n" (which would give "Page 34").
If you intend to submit the document as a manuscript, a cover page can be automatically generated. If the "Include Cover Page" box is checked, then the Cover Page window will be shown after you decide to Print. This allows you to enter details such as your name, address, telephone number, e-mail, and any other information about the document. A cover page containing this information (plus an automatically totalled page and word count) will be printed after the rest of your document. This cover sheet is not counted for the purposes of page numbering.
All details typed into the Print window and the Cover Page window are remembered by the program, so you won't have to retype them each time you want to print The only exception to this is the Title, which may be different each time.
The following buttons are available in the Print window:
Brings up a window showing you how your work will look once printed. There are several buttons at the bottom of the window:
Prints the current file. If you have opted to print a cover page, the Cover Page window will appear so you can alter details if necessary - then click Ok to print.
If you are writing something across more than one file (e.g. a novel or a three-act play) you can print it with this option. First make sure all of the files you need to print are open in RoughDraft. Then click "Print Multiple Files" - a window appears with two panels. On the left are all the currently open files, while on the right are the files you want to print in the order in which they will be printed. Move individual files from one window to the other by selecting them and using the the "<" and ">" buttons. To move all of the files across, use the "<<" and ">>" buttons. You can also drag and drop.
Before you print, you should make sure all of the files you need are in the right hand panel and that they are in the correct order. The order can be changed by dragging each file to a new position. Click the "Print" button and the files will be printed in order, with page numbering continuing throughout.
